On April 7, 2024, Tsanko Tsankov accomplished a remarkable feat, setting a new record for the fastest Cook Strait crossing. Battling strong ocean currents and chilling 12.7°C water temperatures, Tsankov completed the challenging 30.5-kilometer swim in an impressive 6 hours and 23 minutes. This achievement marks his third success in the prestigious Ocean Seven series, recognized by World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA).

Despite encountering tough conditions that forced a deviation from the intended route merely 3500 meters before the finish line, Tsankov's determination and skill prevailed.
